Brazil, at the beginning of the 20th century: the rubber plantations are controlled by “coronels” who impose beastly rhythms of work and conditions of life on the workers. One of them, Mario, rebels and kills the “coronel”. He is prosecuted but escapes. Even so, life is impossible for him.
