Jamal is Chamil’s son, head of the Circassians and enemy of the Zar. Chamil attends The St. Petersburg Academy and becomes a courageous officer and faithful to the monarchy. The young boy tries vainly to bring his father to reason but the old man continues obstinantly to fight. The difficult relationship between father and son ends tragically.
